When you rub the ointment on, camphor and menthol in the formula make your skin feel cool and then warm, helping to increase blood flow to the affected area. The sensation produced by the ingredients also helps to interfere with the brain's ability to detect pain signals from the nerves. The actions of the active ingredients help to diminish discomfort related to muscle and joint strains, arthritis, backaches, overexertion and other causes.
